Meeting Minds Oxford - Alumni Open Day at Physics
Physics will open its doors to all University of Oxford Alumni, family and friends during the Alumni Weekend in Oxford.

Atomic and Laser & Condensed Matter Physics Alumni event
Professor Paul Ewart (Head of Atomic and Laser Physics) and Professor Paolo Radaelli (Head of Condensed Matter Physics) invite you to a physics alumni event on Saturday 7th of June 2014 (10:30 – 17:30) including morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea.
This event aims to engage all physics alumni with the current research in Atomic and Laser, and Condensed Matter Physics, provide a family friendly series of tours, lectures and hands on experiences for you to enjoy at the Clarendon Laboratory.
Alumni Reception
A chance to informally meet and chat with fellow physics alumni and current members of the Department, in a beautiful setting on the Southbank, London.
Event starts at 18:30 and finishes at 21:30 hours.
If you would like to take part, please email Val Crowder, stating your title, name, college and matriculation year.
First come first served, limited places.

Oxford thesis wins European Physical Society Award
The Plasma Physics Division of the European Physical Society has awarded Edmund Highcock its prize for the best PhD thesis of 2012. Edmund, whose supervisor was Alex Schekochihin, is currently a Fellow by Examination of Magdalen College and works in the Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics. His thesis was entitled "The zero turbulence manifold of fusion plasmas".

Professor B S Chandrasekhar (Walther Meissner Institute, Bavarian Academy of Arts and Sciences) is an Oxford Physics Alumnus and Rhodes Scholar, and will talk to us about Low temperature Physics and physicists Six Decades Ago. He finished his D.Phil at the Clarendon in 1952.
