Girls explore science at Marie Curious 2019
To mark International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Oxford Physics held its second annual girls-in-STEM event (science, technology, engineering and maths). ‘Marie Curious’ brings together 100 local girls aged 11-14 and 30 scientists for a day of interactive science including hands-on workshops, a panel discussion and a science show about light! You can see more photos from the day here.

Particle Physics Masterclass 2019
The International Masterclasses in Particle Physics is a program which brings school students into research institutes to learn about particle physics from researchers working at CERN, and to spend a day analysing real data from the experiments to search for signs of new particles. Oxford Physics participated in this on two days in March, allowing over 40 students to experience a day working as a particle physicist.
APPEAL-10: Future Accelerator Projects and Big Science at the Energy Frontier
With the road-map for particle physics in Europe – the so-called European Strategy for Particle Physics – being currently updated, now is a great time to discuss with A-level pupils the future direction of particle physics research at the high-energy accelerator frontier, both in Europe and elsewhere.

Oxford Physics Masterclass
Aims
The Oxford Physics Masterclass aims to:
- Increase students’ interest in pursuing physics at university.
- Raise awareness of application requirements and undergraduate courses at Oxford Physics.
- Enable students to develop problem-solving skills and confidence which are essential for making competitive applications to Oxford Physics.
The day will include:
BPhO lecture: Photovoltaics, solar energy: present status and emerging perovskites
We are pleased to invite BPhO schools to attend our third open lecture at the Royal Society. Schools may bring up to 10 students from Year 10-12.
