This is an exciting opportunity to take part in an International Masterclass in Particle Physics. Students will learn more about Particle Physics with Oxford researchers and gain insight into topics and methods of research relating to matter and forces. They will perform measurements on real data from the ATLAS experiment and participate in a video conference to discuss the results.

Learn how we use particle detectors at the Large Hadron Collider to explore the Universe. Study the Z particle and identify its signature in data from the ATLAS experiment. Work with Oxford particle physicists and join other students in a video conference with CERN to present the results.

This event is open to students aged 16-17 years who are studying A-level Physics and Maths (or equivalent) and are interested in studying physics at University level.

Lunch is provided.

Registration

Registration for the event is now open. Confirmation of places will be given on Fri 22nd Feb 2019.

There is a limit of four students per school. Priority will be given to students from schools with traditionally fewer applications to study at Oxford. It is recommended that students attend with a teacher, however students may also attend the day by themselves.

Please apply to attend by filling in one of the following forms:

  • The form for teachers attending with a group of four students is here.
  • The form for students attending on their own is here. You will need to provide emergency contact information and a teacher's email address to confirm the place.
