VPN Services

The VPN service in the Physics Department is provided by

  • VPN.PHYSICS.OX.AC.UK.

The service is now based on SSL VPN using the Fortinet client.
(Mac's also have the option of using a pre installed Cisco client that uses the IPSec protocol, but the SSL option is preferred.)

There are some instructions for using VPN to Physics from different platforms.

The University also runs a campus wide VPN service. This can be used to access some restricted University services. Using this service gives you a university IP address but no access to the internal Physics Network.

Help on the University VPN service is here. The campus system requires you to load additional software on your client but this allows a secure service to be provided on a wider range of clients than the Physics department service.
