David Ryan Prize 2016
Condensed Matter Physics is delighted to announce that David McMeekin, second year postgraduate student, has been awarded the David Ryan Prize 2016 for the best research presentation by a second year student at the annual poster session.

Supersymmetry squeezed at the high-energy frontier
First year Oxford graduate student Jesse Liu has just released a paper showing how the increase in LHC energy from 8 to 13 TeV has squeezed the permissible models of the theory of supersymmetry.
Supersymmetric theories predicts particles that could help explain the mysterious dark matter in our universe, and which can be produced at the LHC, so they are well worth pursuing.
Halley Lecture
This year's Halley Lecture will be delivered by Professor Scott Tremaine FRS, Richard Black Professor, School of Natural Sciences, IAS, Princeton University, on Wednesday 8th June 2016 @ 5pm in the Martin Wood Lecture Theatre.

LPAG graduate student is runner up in FameLab
Rob Shalloo, a first year graduate student studying laser plasma wakefield acceleration in the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science, was awarded one of two runners up prizes in the UK national final of FameLab on 22nd April.
