Oxford Climate Research Network launched
The newly launched Oxford Climate Research Network (OCRN) is a cross-divisional initiative aiming to promote collaborations between scientists who investigate climate-related issues in various departments at Oxford, and increase the visibility of climate research both within and outside the University.

Mihran Vardanyan & Chris Boddy awarded prizes by OxTALENT 2012
Oxford University Computing Services' OxTALENT program has awarded First Prize in the Student IT Innovation category to Mihran Vardanyan for his development of the iCosmos cosmology calculator.

A new remote temperature sensor
Researchers at Oxford University and the University of Warwick have developed a form of crystal that can deliver highly accurate temperature readings, down to individual milli-kelvins, over a very broad range of temperatures: -120 to +680 degrees centigrade.

Physics Department annual newsletter now available
Oxford Physics has produced the first edition of an annual newsletter, aiming to describe the wide range of work that we do in front-line research, teaching, public outreach and school education. We would welcome contributions to future newsletters from undergraduate or postgraduate alumni and previous members of the physics department.
Keble College Networks research cluster Workshop
To encourage interdisciplinary research Keble College has funded a dedicated Networks research cluster. As a part of its ongoing activities the cluster is running an intensive 1-day workshop covering a wide range of Network related topics, including biological, social, quantum and traffic networks, as well as network analysis methods.

Cheaper solar cell technology developed in the Physics Department
Oxford Photovoltaics, a company recently spun out from the University of Oxford by Isis Innovation Ltd., has developed new solar cell technology that is manufactured from cheap, abundant, non-toxic and non-corrosive materials and can be scaled to any volume.
