First Observation of Inclusive B Decays to the Charmed Strange Baryons Ξc 0 and Ξc +

Abstract:
Using data collected in the region of the γ\(4S\) resonance with the CLEO II detector operating at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we present the first observation of B mesons decaying into the charmed strange baryons Ξc0 and Ξc+. We find 79+/-27 Ξc0 and 125+/-28 Ξc+ candidates from B decays, leading to product branching fractions of B\(B¯⤏c0X\)B\(c0⤏Ξ-π+\) = \(0.144+/-0.048+/-0.021\)×10-3 and B\(B¯⤏Ξ+cX\)B\(Ξ+C⤏Ξ-π+π+\) = \(0.453+/-0.096+ 0.085- 0.065\)×10−3. © 1997 The American Physical Society.Inclusive decays [Formula presented] and [Formula presented]

Abstract:
We report new measurements of the differential and total branching ratios for inclusive [Formula presented] decay to [Formula presented], [Formula presented], and [Formula presented] and the first measurement of the same quantities for inclusive [Formula presented] decay to [Formula presented]. Here [Formula presented] is the mixture of [Formula presented] and [Formula presented] from [Formula presented] decay. Furthermore, since more than one charm particle (or antiparticle) of the same kind can be produced in [Formula presented] decay, here “inclusive [Formula presented] branching ratio” is used to mean the average number of charm particles and their antiparticles of a certain species produced in [Formula presented] decay. We obtain the following results (the first error is statistical, the second systematic of this analysis, the third propagated from other measurements): [Formula presented] [Formula presented] [Formula presented][Formula presented] [Formula presented] The following ratio of branching ratios is not affected by most of the systematic errors: [Formula presented][Formula presented] We also report the first measurement of the momentum-dependent [Formula presented] polarization and a new measurement of the [Formula presented] polarization in inclusive [Formula presented] decay. Abstract:
We use the CLEO detector at the Cornell e+e− storage ring, CESR, to search for the two-photon production of the glueball candidate fj(2220) in its decay to K8K8. We present a restrictive upper limit on the product of the two-photon partial width and the K8K8 branching fraction, (γγγBK8K8)fj(2220). We use this limit to calculate a lower limit on the stickiness, which is a measure of the two-gluon coupling relative to the two-photon coupling. This limit on stickiness indicates that the fj(2220) has substantial glueball content. © 1997 American Physical Society.Measurement of the B¯→Dlv¯ partial width and form factor parameters

Abstract:
We have studied the decayB¯→Dlν¯ where l = e or μ. From a fit to the differential decay ratedγ/dwwe measure the rate normalizationFD(1) |V cb | and form factor slopeρˆ2D, and, using measured values ofτB, findγ(B¯→Dlv¯) = (12.0 ± 0.9 ± 2.1) ns−1 . The resulting branching fractions areB (B¯0 → D+ l−ν¯) = (1.87 ± 0.15 ± 0.32)% and B (B− → D0l−ν¯) = (1.94 ± 0.15 ± 0.34)% .
