Experimental data storage may be accessed on Windows in a number of ways.
(1) Y:\DAQ\subdepartment\nameofgroup (in Physics domain)
(2) \\physics\DFS\DAQ\subdepartment\nameofgroup (in Physics domain)
(3) \\physics.ox.ac.uk\DFS\DAQ\subdepartment\nameofgroup (outside Physics domain)
(4) \\CLARENDONDAQ\subdeptDAQ\nameofgroup (in Physics domain, not recommended)
(5) \\CLARENDONDAQ.physics.ox.ac.uk\subdeptDAQ\nameofgroup (outside Physics domain, not recommended)
(1) Before using WinTeX 2000 for the first time set up the normal Oxford WinTeX 2000 user setup and licence as follows:
Start -> Programs -> Graphics Tools -> WinTeX 2000 -> Oxford user WinTeX2000 Setup.
(2) To restore the normal Oxford WinTeX 2000 user setup you may do the following.
Start -> Programs -> Graphics Tools -> WinTeX 2000 -> Oxford user WinTeX2000 Setup.
(3) If you experience problems, for example WinTeX will not process a known good LaTeX file, you can reset WinTeX as follows.

WinTeX
N.B. Our version of WinTeX only works fully with MikTeX 2.4 .
Screen editor for Windows which is aware of the TeX/LaTeX command structure.
WinTeX may only be used on University-owned systems.
You may obtain WinTeX kits from \\LOCALKITS.physics.ox.ac.uk\OxKits_WinTeX\ on the Physics Network System using the instructions for obtaining kits.

PuTTY is a free implementation of Telnet and SSH which comes with an xterm terminal emulator.
Platform: Windows / Linux
Licence details: Open source.

Start -> All Programs/Apps -> Physics Self Service
Running Self Service will show the complete list of applications available.

Kits and Licences are held by IT Support and only IT Support personnel, under the terms of our site licence, can install Visual Studio and only on University-owned systems.

Self Service is a convenient way of installing software without requiring administrator access, without the need for any knowledge of kits or licences and without requiring any installation input from the user.
Platforms: Windows/Mac/Linux Self Service is available on Physics-managed Windows and Mac systems. It's not yet available on Linux systems.

Intel Compiler Installation Notes (from University Servers).
You may do the following when installing the Intel Compiler.
The instructions given here are for the FORTRAN compiler on a Windows system. Details will vary with different versions of the compiler and different platforms (Windows/Linux).
The Linux installation kits contain installation instructions.
1. Copy the kit to a local directory.
