2020 Schools Poster Competition: Magnetism

This year, the Department of Physics are inviting you to design a poster all about magnetism!

You can create a poster for one of two categories:

  • An infographic style poster, telling us all about some aspect of magnetism, or
  • A research style poster, explaining an experiment that you have carried out yourself that explores magnetism

This competition is open to any students in Year 3 through to Year 13 and will be judged in age categories based on Key Stage.

Your poster should be A3 in size and can be made by hand or on a computer. You should design your poster so that it is aimed at students of your own age. This means that it should contain good scientific information but it should also be lively and eye-catching, so get creative!

The competition will be open from 29th May to 31st July 2020.

You can find more detailed information on our FAQ page or on our flyer. You can submit your finished poster using this form.

If you want more ideas about what you might include on your poster or how you might like to design it, you can check out our ideas and inspiration page or take a look at some of our previous competition winners' posters!

Each student who submits an entry will receive a certificate.

The best entries will also be displayed on the Department of Physics Primary Outreach website.

We will also be holding a special online celebration event in September to which the winners of each category and their teachers and families will be invited! In addition to this, winners will also receive a fantastic prize, including a professionally printed A1 version of their poster.
