The Steve Rawlings Memorial Fund

8 February 2013

Message from Roger Davies, Philip Wetton Professor of Astrophysics, University of Oxford

Dear all,

The 11th January this year marked the first anniversary of Steve Rawlings’ death. It has been a very difficult twelve months – Steve was a much loved colleague and is greatly missed as both a person and a phenomenal astrophysicist.

There has been significant interest in finding a way to memorialise Steve and I am happy to tell you that, with the full backing of Steve’s wife, Linda, we have set up the Steve Rawlings Memorial Fund in his honour. The aim of the Fund is to raise money for graduate student travel in Astrophysics at the University of Oxford. This is something we believe Steve would have been very supportive of and we hope that you may wish to contribute. Please see below for practical steps to help you – the easiest way to help is through the special online giving page we have set up at

Our thoughts at this time are very much with Steve’s wife and family and we hope that this initiative will commemorate Steve appropriately.

Yours sincerely,

Roger Davies
Philip Wetton Professor of Astrophysics
