Jay is the Project Manager on the SKA and Mexico projects at Oxford. The SKA (Square Kilometre Array) is a very large international project (comprising several countries and institutions) which seeks to develop and build the world's most powerful radio telescope, with infrastructure in three continents in both hemispheres. The SKA telescope array will bring new insights in many aspects, for example - the origins and history of the Universe, the formation and dynamics of galaxies and black holes, studies of exoplanets and many other aspects of astronomy.
The 'Mexico Projects' are Overseas Development Agency (Newton) funded work on helping with developing and integrating Mexico into global astronomical arrays.
Jay is a Geoscientist by background (geology, geophysics, environmental science).
