Overview

We are a large, multidisciplinary group with group members having studied physics, chemistry, materials science, mechanical engineering and more. These diverse expertise allow us to tackle wide-ranging problems across the field of novel semiconducting materials and devices. Most of our research effort is focused on understanding, and improving, photovoltaic devices based on metal halide perovskite semiconductors. Further, we work on perovskite light emitting diodes (LEDs), the synthesis of perovskite nanocrystals, the development of novel semiconducting materials as well as fundamental measurements of the optical and electronic properties of these materials.

We have state-of-the-art sample fabrication capability in addition to device and thin-film characterisation facilities.

The Physics Department also hosts the "National Thin-Film Cluster Facility for Advanced Functional Materials", which is a new facility for vacuum-based deposition  (thermal, sputter and atomic layer deposition) of a range of advanced semiconductor materials, including perovskites, organics, metal-oxides, nitrides and metals.

Our group is based at The Clarendon Laboratory, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PU.
