Particle Theory

We are based in the Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics, which is part of the Department of Physics at Oxford University. Particle theory is an exciting area of research that involves both using and extending the most fundamental physical theories to understand the basic structure of the universe. On this site, you will find information about our members and their research activities, as well as details of relevant local events, information about applying for graduate study, and links to useful websites. In particular we have strong links with our experimental colleagues in Particle Physics as well as with the Mathematical Physics Group in the Maths Institute.

If you are interested in joining us as a postdoctoral researcher, please make an initial enquiry to the relevant staff member. We hold a STFC Rolling Grant for postdoctoral support and welcome applications for 2 year positions (usually considered in mid-December).

We are also happy to support suitable candidates for:

STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowships
Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships
Royal Society University Research Fellowships
Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowships
Newton International Fellowships
1851 Royal Commission Fellowships
EU Marie Curie Fellowships

... as well as Junior Research Fellowships offered by Oxford Colleges and the Glasstone Research Fellowships).

We have been involved with many EC-funded Marie Curie Research & Training networks - the last one was the Initial Training Network: Unification in the LHC era, PITN-GA-2009-237920 (Oct 2009-Sep 2013), PI: G.G.Ross
