Isaac Physics Calculus Workshop

Date:
16 Jun 2017 - 9:00am to 1:00pm
Venue:
Abingdon School, Abingdon
Audience:
Schools (secondary)

The Abingdon Science Partnership have teamed up with Isaac Physics and the University of Oxford Physics Department to offer an exciting end of term experience which aims to stretch and challenge Year 12 Physics students. We aim to help students improve their problem solving skills within a scientific context, a key requirement for students who wish to study STEM subjects at university.

Students will be placed in small groups, mentored by an Oxford Physics graduate student, and will work through a set of problems based around calculus. This will include topics which students may have only limited experience of, such as the centre of mass and moments of inertia, but they will be assisted and guided through these challenging problems. Due to the advanced nature of some of the material, we recommend only students studying Further Maths and Physics A level attend this event.

What to expect and enjoy:

  • Isaac Physics Calculus Problem solving session to help improve your problem solving skills
  • A talk offering advice on applying for STEM subjects at university
  • Mentoring by Oxford Physics Graduates

We anticipate a busy, challenging morning but hopefully a fun time for all!
