David Marshall

Professor and Head of AOPP

I am a Physical Oceanographer interested in understanding how and why the ocean circulates, how the ocean circulation might change in the future in response to anthropogenic climate forcing, and how the ocean circulation has varied in the past. I use simple theoretical models to deepen understanding (to "sharpen the questions") and realistic models and observations to quantify the impact of particular processes.

NEW: For more details please see my website: www.marshallocean.net.

I currently teach a short series of advanced lectures on Ocean Circulation for the Doctoral Training Programme. I recently taught the B1 course on Flows, Fluctuations on Complexity (fluid dynamics and dynamical systems) and I have taught Geophysical Fluid Dynamics on the C5 major option. I am a frequent contributor to summer schools (20 and counting!)
