Teaching Lab Password

While studying with the Department of Physics, you will be issued with two types of account.

  1. University of Oxford Single Sign-On: Commonly referred to as your ‘SSO account’, this account is used for accessing services such as your University of Oxford email account and services provided by your college.
  2. Physics Practical Course account: Commonly referred to as your ‘physics account’, this account is used for accessing services provided by the Department of Physics, such as logging into the computers in the practical labs and SPIRe.

IMPORTANT: The passwords for these accounts are not linked, they are managed independently.

Setting/Resetting Your Password

Before using your Physics Practical Course account for the first time, a password must be set for the account by using the password reset page.

Click the 'I forgot my password' link...

Now enter the username for your physics account, and follow the on screen instructions. The username for your Physics Practical Course account is the same as the part before the @ symbol in your SSO account. For example, if your SSO account is ‘abcd1234@OX.AC.UK’ then your physics account will be ‘abcd1234’.
