GEWEX Aerosol Precipitation initiative / RECAP project expert workshop on aerosol effects on precipitation

During 28-30 June 2017, the RECAP project hosted an expert workshop on aerosol-precipitation interactions in Oxford, under the umbrella of the new GEWEX Aerosol Precipitation (GAP) initiative co-chaired by Sue van den Heever and Philip Stier.

GAP aims to enhance our understanding of aerosol-precipitation interactions on a regional to global scale.

The aim of this workshop was to critically review the evidence for aerosol effects on precipitation across scales from a wide range of proposed mechanisms. This meeting deliberately brought together a select group of experts from a broad range of research areas (and opinions) with the goal to deliver an assessment of the current evidence for aerosol effects on precipitation. The excellent workshop discussions will serve as input to the strategy and prioritisation of efforts for this new GEWEX activity as well as for RECAP.
