Stories of science are filled with eureka moments—from Archimedes’ bath to Newton’s apple—but the scientific method or procedure of discovery also includes false starts and mistakes that are essential to longer-term success. The scientific method is characterised by the systematic observation, measurement and experiment as well as the formulation, testing and modification of hypotheses – for which critical analysis and thinking form a central part of the process.

The Ogden Trust Oxford Partnership have teamed up with Isaac Physics and the University of Oxford Physics Department to offer an exciting end of term experience which aims to stretch and challenge Year 12 Physics students. We aim to help students improve their problem solving skills within a scientific context, a key requirement for students who wish to study STEM subjects at university.

The event
Staff and volunteers from the University of Oxford and British Physics Olympiad Trust will provide guidance and resources on helping your students to develop advanced problem solving skills in physics. The day will cover extending able students in class through providing extension classes to help them explore their interest in physics.
