Physics will open its doors to Alumni and their families during the University Alumni Weekend in September. Last year we had more than 400 people attending the Open Telescope night, lectures, drinks and hands-on experiments.

Friday 20th September

Telescope Night 20:00 - 23:00 hours

Tours of the Telescope (SORRY, all tours fully booked, but you can still register to visit on the night)

There will also be posters, hands on and a drinks reception at the Denys Wilkinson Building Building. All welcome, please register by email with the Alumni Office if you'd like to visit.

Saturday 21st September

Physics Open Day

We will have an open café, hands on exhibitions, posters, the opportunity to chat with current members of staff, and have a fantastic time at Physics.

13:00 - Tour of the Department of Physics (maximum 20 people). Duration 45 minutes approx.

14:15 - Dr Ranah Irshad, ‘Exploring the Universe’. Duration 45 minutes.

15:30 - Dr Laure Zanna, ‘Climate change and the Oceans’. Duration 45 minutes.

17:00 - Talks by Dr John Wheater, Head of Department, ‘Physics in the 21st Century’; Professor Derek Stacy and Dr Jay Watson (alumnus). Duration 1 hour

18:00 – Drinks Reception

19:00 - Close

Day events will finish at 19:00 hours.

All our events are free. Saturday events will take place at the Martin Wood Complex (next to the Clarendon Laboratory), Parks Rd, OX1 3PU. If you'd like to attend, please contact Val Crowder, Alumni Relations Officer and state what would you like to book for (a lecture, tour, all day).
The Martin Wood Complex is wheelchair friendly.
