Women in Physics Mentoring Programme

Offering support to female physicists through one-to-one mentoring

We aim to support the education and career development of women in physics by providing one-to-one mentoring to target individual concerns and goals.

All new Oxford Physics undergraduates will be given the option to join the mentoring scheme and be assigned a mentor. You can also opt into the scheme in later years.

If you're interested in joining the Women in Physics mentoring scheme, as a mentor or a mentee, contact Jasmine Simms (jasmine.simms [at] mansfield.ox.ac.uk).

This is a perfect opportunity to talk about your concerns in a safe environment with women who have faced similar problems. Our mentors are carefully picked based on their approachability, experience, and enthusiasm.

As a mentee, you will:

  • Set goals and discuss plans to achieve them!
  • Gain insight into the next stage of your career
  • Discuss balancing personal life and work
  • Receive encouragement and support

By becoming a mentor you can encourage younger women to stay in physics by sharing your experiences and passion for science! A friendly conversation can make a world of difference!

As a mentor, you will:

  • Act as a role model
  • Share your experiences
  • Help women to see their full potential
  • Improve listening and communication skills
