Academic Visitor

Eduardo Dias is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics in the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco - Brazil. Currently, he is an academic visitor affiliated with the Frontiers of Quantum Physics group led by Prof. Vlatko Vedral at the Department of Physics in the University of Oxford.

His main research interests pertain to the foundations of quantum mechanics (QM), including time in QM, the measurement problem, and interpretations of QM. Some of his works concern the formulation of a space-time-symmetric quantum formalism that is compatible with a possible quantum theory of gravity. He also has experience in the study of hydrodynamic instabilities on the interface between viscous fluids. The importance of this subject is highlighted by the fact that these instabilities are one of the most critical factors in the loss of efficiency in oil extraction. Furthermore, one of his interests is to elaborate mechanisms to control the dynamics of these interfaces.
