Location Definitions for Use of Software
System Connected to the Physics Network
Connected to the Physics network, directly or via VPN.
System Connected to the University Network
Connected to the University network, directly or via VPN.
University-Owned System
System purchased by or gifted to the University and Owned by the Collegiate University.
Personally-Owned System
System owned by the user and not by the University.
Standalone
Standalone can mean anywhere but some software may be restricted by location.

User Status Definitions for use of Software.
Undergraduate
Someone whose official University Status is "Undergraduate". Someone whose official status is "Student" may be an undergraduate: that would need to be checked with the student's supervisor.
Postgraduate
Someone whose official University Status is "Postgraduate". Someone whose official status is "Student" may be a Postgraduate: that would need to be checked with the student's supervisor.
Staff
Someone whose official University Status is "Staff".

Physics no longer has a site license this is for information only.
At the end of the installation procedure you will have LabVIEW with a 30-day evaluation licence.
In order to use the site licence you must activate LabVIEW over the network for which you should be connected to the University network.

To access copies of software distribution kits on our local server from a Linux system you may do the following.

To access copies of software distribution kits on our local server from a Mac OS X system you may do the following.
- Go to the main menu bar (which starts with Finder).
- Click on "Go".
- Select "Connect to server"
- Type in:
smb://LOCALKITS.physics.ox.ac.uk/
and then select "OxKits_MATLAB" from the list presented. You will then be prompted for your Physics Windows network authentication details:

Instructions for a Windows System.
To access copies of software distribution kits on our local server from a Windows system you may do the following.
Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: \\LOCALKITS.physics.ox.ac.uk\OxKits_xxxxxxx\
( where xxxxxxx is the name of the package you want e.g. "MATLAB" )
You will then be prompted for your Physics Windows network authentication details:
Username: physics\yourusername
Password: yourpassword
You will then see the MATLAB kits.

Physics no longer purchases a LabVIEW site license this is due to the significant increase in license costs and National Instruments move to a annual subscription service. If you need to purchase a subscription license please contact NI directly.
Alternatively a number of groups have already moved to Python as a alternative, we would recommend installing Anaconda distribution, this allows for multiple virtual environments.
