Physics alumna Roma Agrawal ('Roma The Engineer') keeps in touch with the Department and she sent us this update, so we could share with you all...Congratulations Roma in your continued success!

Dear all

I have had a busy start to the year with a number of presentations at schools and universities, enjoyed a weekend at the Big Bang Fair, and have been shortlisted for the Women in Construction and ACE Engineering Excellence Awards!

I am delighted to be representing engineers in Marks & Spencers Leading Ladies campaign. I was selected alongside a select group of inspirational British women from a range of fields and backgrounds. I was thrilled to participate as this is a unique opportunity to engage with a wider audience and break down stereotypes surrounding women in science and engineering. We are real people, and can be fashionable and feminine whilst professional and technical.

You can find out more about the campaign here and watch a video interview here.

I am also delighted to be speaking at the Cheltenham Science Festival this year, details on the session featuring myself and a former minister to follow. I am enjoying my roles on the Diversity Panel (CIC) and Knowledge Management Board (IET).

Through all my activities I meet some amazing people and hear interesting ideas for promoting technical careers. If you would like to have a chat about STEM, women in professions, the UK housing and infrastructure situation or would like me to speak at an event, please get in touch. More at
