ALP Outreach and Public Enagement
Last month we had an ALP meeting to discuss outreach and public engagement and we came up with a number of potential outreach activities that ALP might like to develop.
The next step is to gauge the interest of others in ALP and organise a series of meetings about the activities that were discussed. Below is a list of the activities that were discussed, if you would like to get involved please indicate to what level in the question item below.
ACTIVITIES
- Activity 1: Quantum-themed masterclass sessions for visiting school students in Year 12 (age 16/17 years) ~ 1-1.5hrs
- Activity 2: ATOM Day - A whole-school event for primary school children on the theme of ATOMS. Includes cross-curricular links and create activities. Developed by Imperial College and the Ogden Trust. Delivered in targeted schools in Oxford.
- Activity 3: Quantum-themed day for children (age 12-14 years) run jointly with quantum materials. Scheduled to take place in the Dept Thu 11 July 2019.
- Activity 4: A course for Year 12 students (age 16/17 years) on ALP (e.g. a series of weekly sessions).
- Activity 5: Festival stall demonstrations and participation in science festivals.
- Activity 6: Giving talks about your research e.g:
1) 20 min talks for visiting school groups (age 14-17).
2) More high-profile public lectures - Activity 7: Annual public evening event including short talks or a debate/panel.
