Teaching/Tutoring Positions Sought

Proposed subject: Plasma Physics, Laboratory Demonstrating, Numerical Methods, Mathematical Methods, Atomic and Laser Physics, Flows, Fluctuations and Complexity, Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism and Optics, Thermal physics, Quantum physics
Experience: I am a first year Atomic and laser physics DPhil looking to help deliver undergraduate physics courses. I have a strong theoretical understanding of background in the subjects proposed – from my academic career as well as my experience in industry. I additionally I have experience, having carried out projects at University and in industry, in scientific computing and so am very happy to help with programming aspects of teaching modules. Understanding the importance that tutorials have in Oxford teaching, I will work hard outside of teaching to ensure that I can deliver teaching above the expected standard.

Proposed subject: Electromagnetism and Optics (EM: any year, Optics, Y1/2)
Experience: As a keen public speaker with a desire to share knowledge on physics, I've found myself in a wide range of teaching or engagement settings. Whether it be a 6-week teaching internship, MPLS bridging programme demonstrator, various (self-run, original) outreach talks, to simply mentoring students remotely (Ogden Trust scheme) - the key link between them all is that my students all think I'm a passionate advocate for the sciences. I always try to go beyond the obvious explanation, as I believe intuition is better gained through seeing problems in a different light. Before I graduate my DPhil in Particle Accelerators (Computational), it is my ambition to hold a tutorial series in E&M (or Optics).

Proposed subject: Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Quantum Mechanics, Mathematical Methods, Special Relativity, General Relativity, Quantum Field Theory, Conformal Field Theory
Experience: I am a 2nd year DPhil in Mathematical Physics. I have had two 1-week long teaching positions in a High School, where I taught Linear Algebra. I have had a tutoring position in Mathematical Methods at the University of Padova. In Oxford, I have had TA positions at the Mathematical Institue for General Relativity I, String Theory I, Conformal Field Theory. In Hilary Term 2022, I am going to have two tutoring positions in String Theory I.

Proposed subject: Any of the prelims CP options, Electromagnetism and optics (A2), Quantum Physics (A3), 2nd year Mathematical methods, Atomic and Laser Physics (B3), Condensed Matter Physics (B6)
Experience: I am in my 2nd year in my DPhil programme in the Semiconductors research group in the Condensed Matter Physics subdepartment. I recently (last year) finished my physics undergrad here at oxford taking all these courses with consistently good results in all my exams (ranked 9th in my year). So, I am very familiar with the taught courses and am confident I can teach nearly all the courses and in particular the proposed subjects above.

Proposed Subject: Mathematical Methods (CP3, CP4, SO1), Quantum Mechanics (A3, S18), Special/General Relativity and Electrodynamics (B2, B5), Quantum Computation and Information Theory (Parts of C2)
Experience: I have experience teaching 2nd year mathematical methods and quantum mechanics (A3) for St Peter’s College and 3rd year Symmetry and Relativity (B2) for Keeble college. I have also previously tutored special relativity and quantum information/computation theory in the Mathematics. Having studied the Cambridge Mathematics Tripos (parts I, II, III) I am well suited to teach the more mathematically intense physics modules as listed above. I am incredibly enthusiastic about teaching and actively looking for more teaching opportunities as I progress with my DPhil studies (currently entering 3rd year).
