The Dark Universe

The Dark Universe Research Group is a coordinated effort aimed at stimulating synergies between theorists, observers and statisticians working on the outstanding puzzle of dark energy and dark matter. Recent experiments and observations have shown that 95% of the Universe's energy density seemingly lies in a Dark Sector comprising Dark Matter, a form of yet undiscovered matter, and Dark Energy, whose origin is unknown. Oxford University is developing a coordinated approach to the Dark Sector problem.
The Dark Universe Research Group will deploy an intense collaborative work between mathematics (String Theory), theoretical physics, phenomenology and statistics, focussed on elucidating the fundamental nature of the Dark Sector. The Initiative is coordinated by the Beecroft Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology
