Quantum Matter in High Magnetic Fields

Our research uses high magnetic fields and low temperatures to probe novel phases of matter in single crystals of quantum materials from superconductors, magnets, multiferroics and topological insulators. We use the high magnetic field facilities available in Oxford, such as the Kurti High Magnetic Field Laboratory (up to 60T) and dc fields up to 21T over a large temperature range down to 50 mK.

We also have regular access to international high magnetic field facilities in Europe at the High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and at the Laboratoire National des Champs Magnétiques Intenses in Toulouse (France) funded by the EuroMagnet II and also in the USA at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee and Los Alamos.
