Inserting images

To insert an image, click the "Insert image" button ()

Images can be uploaded in the following formats: JPG/JPEG, PNG, GIF

Adding a caption

Generally, you will want to add a caption to an image, to explain the image contents. To do so, enter a description in the "Title text" field when inserting an image.

Alignment

When inserting an image, you can specify its alignment (left, right or centred) by using the "Alignment" dropdown. If you want your text to wrap around the image, be sure to put your text immediately after the image, with no line break.

Custom image size

As part of uploading a new image there is option to create thumbnails. In some situation this may crop part of the file.

To create custom size for uploaded image::

  • Upload image as you do normally (or image icon -> browse to perform this on already uploaded images)
  • Select image, probably the original one
  • Click Resize and type in the width box:
    • 428 and Tab key so Height value is calculated automatically*
    • Or 758 and Tab key so Height value is calculated automatically*
  • Click Resize (make sure Create a new image option is selected)
  • Double click on image to send it to editor (or Send to editor from option at the top File Browser image)

* 428 you type if page has any kind of block on the right e.g. file attachments, latest news etc (for example this page https://www2.physics.ox.ac.uk/research/climate-processes/research has Research Tools block enabled so available space for content is 428)
* 758 you type if page has no block enabled for page (example of page witout blocks on the right: https://www2.physics.ox.ac.uk/research/climate-processes/projects/recap)
