Description

The Institute of Physics Oxford Centre will be hosting Jon Butterworth, Head of Physics & Astronomy at University College London. Jon will be giving a talk entitled Smashing Physics: latest news from the energy frontier based on his first hand experiences working at the Large Hadron Collider.

The ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider discovered the Higgs Boson and continue to probe the high-energy frontier, studying the smallest constituents of matter that we know. Jon will give an account of how they do this, how the Higgs was found and what it means, and bring it up-to-the-minute with the current programme.

The event is free and open to everyone with an interest. Please register to secure your place,.
