Migration of Physics Email to Nexus
The decision to run down the Physics departmental email service and to use the University Nexus system instead was taken some years ago but the department had to wait until the system could provide sufficient storage to absorb our existing mailboxes. Nexus is now about to move into a cloud based service known as Nexus 365 which has a number of benefits, not least significantly larger mailbox storage which will enable that process. 15th Hintze Lecture 'State of the Universe'
The 15th Hintze Lecture will be delivered by Professor Brian Schmidt, Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University and 2011 Noble Prize Winner in Physics.
Title: State of the Universe
Abstract: Our Universe was created in 'The Big Bang' and has been expanding ever since. Professor Schmidt will describe the vital statistics of the Universe, including its size, weight, shape, age, and composition. Professor Schmidt will also try to make sense of the Universe's past, present, and future – and describe what we know, and what we do not yet know, about the Cosmos

Many congratulations to Subir Sarkar who has been awarded the IUPAP-TIFR Homi Bhabha Medal and Prize 2017.
This prize is awarded for distinguished contributions in high energy cosmic ray physics and astro-particle physics.
