Migration of Physics Email to Nexus
The decision to run down the Physics departmental email service and to use the University Nexus system instead was taken some years ago but the department had to wait until the system could provide sufficient storage to absorb our existing mailboxes. Nexus is now about to move into a cloud based service known as Nexus 365 which has a number of benefits, not least significantly larger mailbox storage which will enable that process. You can find out more about Nexus 365, including FAQ, here.
Enterprising Women
Join us and be inspired by Dr. Cecilia Muldoon, avid oenophile, physicist, classic car fanatic and amateur ballerina!
Building on our previous talks, Cici Muldoon will be sharing lessons and insights from her journey from researcher to entrepreneur and CEO.
As usual we will be offering a networking lunch, from local social enterprises who combine making delicious food with doing good!

15th Hintze Lecture 'State of the Universe'
The 15th Hintze Lecture will be delivered by Professor Brian Schmidt, Vice-Chancellor of the Australian National University and 2011 Noble Prize Winner in Physics.
Title: State of the Universe
Abstract: Our Universe was created in 'The Big Bang' and has been expanding ever since. Professor Schmidt will describe the vital statistics of the Universe, including its size, weight, shape, age, and composition. Professor Schmidt will also try to make sense of the Universe's past, present, and future – and describe what we know, and what we do not yet know, about the Cosmos
