AOPP Retreat Prize Winners

Despite a very high standard of presentations overall, two stood out as being particularly clear and engaging presentations of some great physics work: Kevin Thielen and Chris MacMackin, both of the Ice and Fluid Dynamics group, won prizes for the best talk and poster respectively. Many congratulations to both of them!

A smaller open day, with tutors available to answer course-specific questions. There will be course literature available for collection but no tours or activities.

There will be admissions talks at 11:00 and 15:00.

DPhil Student Chico Camargo wins University Public Engagement Award

Chico Camargo, of the Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics has won an Early Career Researcher award in this year’s Vice-Chancellor’s Public Engagement with Research Awards, which celebrate public engagement work across the University. The announcement was made at an awards ceremony at the Oxford University Museum of Natural History on 28 June hosted by Vice-Chancellor Professor Louise Richardson.

Professor Michael Baker, 1930-2017

It is with great sadness that the Physics Department announces the death of Professor Michael Baker on the 10th of August at the age of 86.
