Sample scripts

These two scripts are for different versions of the show performed during its pilot phase in Oxford. The full show script would easily fill 45 minutes and more probably an hour, which is the length we usually went for, and varied massively from presenter to presenter. The short script was used at the Big Bang Fair in Manchester in 2010, when we had to get one, set up, do the show and be off stage within half an hour. Consequently, the show is about 20–25 minutes long, and we stuck to the script rather more tightly in this case!

These are absolutely a guideline: obviously you can use as much as you like, but equally don’t feel trapped by them. Reciting a memorised script often looks a bit wooden anyway! Steal the bits you like, and feel free add your own personal touch to the rest. Not that you really need to tell a scientist that…
